Sellier or Retourne
A Sellier Kelly is stitched on the outside, so the seams are visible and the outline is sharp, boxy and rigid. Because of those crisp edges, a Sellier looks larger than a Retourne of the same size.
A Retourne is sewn inside out and turned, which hides the body seams and gives rounder edges and a softer, slightly relaxed shape. Our Kelly 25 is a Sellier; the Kelly 28 and 32 are Retourne.

Epsom, Togo and Swift leather
Our Kelly 25 is Noir Epsom, the Kelly 28 and 32 are Togo in Gold and Étoupe, and the Kelly Pochette is Noir Swift.
- Epsom: an embossed fine grain that is light, rigid and holds sharp edges. The natural partner for a Sellier.
- Togo: a natural pebbled grain with raised veins, matte to softly lustrous, firm but relaxed. The classic leather for a Retourne.
- Swift: smooth, with an almost invisible grain and a satin sheen that shows the depth of the colour. Soft, but it marks more easily.

How we check a Kelly
On a genuine Kelly only the top plaque is engraved HERMÈS-PARIS, and the padlock is engraved HERMÈS on the bottom with a number that matches its keys. The base has four feet, and recent bags have double rings at each side of the handle for the strap.
The HERMÈS / PARIS / MADE IN FRANCE heat stamp sits above the turn-lock, under the flap, in foil that matches the hardware. The blind stamp with the year letter is inside the bag.

Which Kelly size should I choose?
The 25 is compact and the most sought after, the 28 is a versatile everyday size and the 32 suits work and travel. A Sellier looks larger than a Retourne of the same size.
Does the Kelly come with a shoulder strap?
Yes, our Kelly 25, 28 and 32 come with a detachable shoulder strap, as well as box, dust bag, padlock and clochette. The Kelly Pochette is a clutch and has no strap.
Why is a pre-owned Kelly priced above the boutique?
Boutiques allocate the Kelly through waiting lists. Our Kelly 25 Sellier is €26,000, against a boutique price of €9,600, because you can have it today.
How can I tell the year of a Kelly?
Look for the blind stamp inside the bag. Since 2015 it is a bare letter without a frame: Z for 2021, U for 2022, B for 2023 and W for 2024.
