About: American Buffalo 1 oz

In 2006 the American Buffalo became the first 24-carat gold coin of the United States Mint, at 999.9 fineness. Its design returns to James Earle Fraser's buffalo nickel of 1913, with a Native American profile on the front and an American bison on the back.
